Introducing

The Wildlife Collection

Active. Immersive. Ethical.

If you’re looking to Do Wild Things and spot wild things, you’re in the right place. From walking safaris to whale watching, tracking snow leopards in the Himalaya to spotting bison in Europe – our active wildlife adventures are naturalist-led, solo-friendly and utterly immersed in the natural world, ensuring we tread lightly among these habitats. Whether you’re paddling through mangroves, snorkelling above a technicolour marine world or snapping the bright flash of brilliant bird life from the trail, these trips take you deep into the places where the wild things are.

Discover the trips

We keep things ethical, never promising or manufacturing wildlife sightings, but the expert local hosts we partner with know the best places to seek intimate, crowd-free encounters. With small groups and off-the-beaten-path itineraries, we tread lightly to make as little environmental impact as possible – and this is exactly what makes them special. All our wildlife trips support conservation or partner with projects in the areas they visit, many of which you’ll visit as part of the adventure.

Six reasons our adventures stand apart

  • Environmentally responsible

Ethical encounters are our top priority: the welfare of animals and their habitats comes above everything

  • Wildlife first, but still active

We curate adventures that combine the wildlife spotting with active experiences

  • Naturalist guides

Every wildlife activity is led by experienced, knowledgeable naturalists

  • Conservation support

Positive impact is built in – every wildlife trip is linked to local conservation efforts

  • Immersion in nature

Lesser-known locations and quiet encounters make you feel like you’re in a documentary

  • Small groups

Groups of 12 or fewer mean minimal impact on wildlife and better sightings

Adventures with impact

Every adventure in the Wildlife Collection supports either conservation or rewilding efforts in the region visited.

Conservation

Adventure that does good is our mission – especially when it comes to our wildlife trips. Your visit doesn’t just contribute financially to a project, on many of our wildlife trips your visit means real encounters with the people doing the work. Treading lightly while having a positive impact? That’s a win-win in our book.

Rewilding

Epic wildlife experiences in remote places don’t have to mean loads of time off work. Our rewilding adventures will see you exploring some of the most exciting conservation projects in Europe over a long weekend, from tracking bison and bears to watching for wolves in the wild.

FAQs

Our wildlife adventures put nature front and centre throughout the trip. We aim to spend as much time as possible immersed in nature, whether that's tracking animals through wild landscapes or sitting quietly, waiting for something remarkable to happen. That said, these are still proper adventures. Expect plenty of walking safaris, hikes and other active ways to spend your days, with moments of stillness and observation woven in along the way. An experienced naturalist will guide you for each relevant activity, and groups are usually capped at 12 people, keeping things intimate, lowering your environmental footprint and making sure the wildlife barely knows you’re there.

World Animal Protection (opens in new tab) (formerly the World Society for the Protection of Animals, or WSPA) is an international charity on a mission to end animal cruelty and exploitation. Its roots go back to 1950, and today it campaigns on behalf of both wild and farmed animals. Its wildlife work targets the root causes of suffering: lobbying governments for laws that protect wild animals and their habitats, challenging businesses that profit from exploiting wildlife and moving the tourism industry away from cruel wildlife entertainment and practices. It also publishes research on animal welfare and runs public campaigns to reduce demand for products and experiences that harm animals. We have collaborated with World Animal Protection in the development of our Animal Welfare Policy (opens in new tab) to ensure that our adventures only include ethical animal-based activities, in line with the latest scientific evidence.

Our Rewilding Adventures (opens in new tab) take place in areas that are actively undergoing a process of ecological restoration known as rewilding. Increasingly, scientists and environmental activists see rewilding as a key solution to the ecological crises facing the planet. At Much Better Adventures we have followed this youthful movement closely, and it is clear that tourism has a role to play in helping to fund rewilding projects and show our adventurers the ecological transformations happening on the ground. Our trips explore these areas and particularly the species which are coming back to the returning wildernesses.

On any of our Rewilding Adventures, you'll be guided by expert wildlife trackers with a deep understanding of the rewilding efforts and the ecological improvements occurring in the areas they live and work in. You will search for and learn about keystone species such as wolf and bison which are either expanding from small historical numbers or being actively reintroduced. You'll see up close returning tree coverage and wildflower meadows, and even witness rivers running clearer due to the land growing wilder and withholding sediments. We aim for our Rewilding Adventures to instil a sense of hope that the damage which human activity has caused to the wild places on our planet can be reversed.

Wildlife tracking allows you an incredible window into the behaviour of animal species and enables you to have a far greater understanding not only of that animal, but how it interacts with and depends upon the other fauna and flora around it.
