Hop in the van for the scenic drive from Arenas de Cabrales, gradually ascending deeper towards the western massif, with the towering peaks of Torrecerredo and Picos de Los Cabrones looming ahead. Your first hike in the Picos kicks off from Lake Ercina, a beautiful spot to pick up a winding trail into the mountains, passing shepherd's huts to the Marqués de Villaviciosa refuge. Grab a rest and a snack here before ascending to Cabeza La Verde peak (1719m) where you'll be rewarded with epic views whilst tucking into your packed lunch. Descend via the Majada de Belbin, a beautiful alpine meadow and grazing area known for its famous Gamonedo cheese, all the way back to Ercina Lake where you'll transfer back to Arenas de Cabrales. Head out for dinner this evening to sample some classic northern Spanish dishes.

The Pico's de Europa's most recognisable and iconic peak is the centre of attention today. Drive to Sotres, the highest village in the Picos and known as the 'last village of Asturias', then on to a small hamlet called Pandébano where today's epic hike begins. Kick off with an ascent to Collado Vallejo at around 1500m, gradually revealing views of the iconic Naranjo de Bulnes, also known as Pico Urriellu (2519m). Follow the trail through jaw-dropping scenery to reach the base of the mountain at 2000m, where a refuge offers the chance for a rest. Naranjo de Bulnes is a popular rock climbing spot, and you may see the tiny specks of climbers on the rock face high above. Tuck into a packed lunch before retracing your steps back to Pandebano, with the iconic peak looming behind you as you hike back then drive down the valley, returning to Arenas de Cabrales. Soak up your last night in Arenas with an evening meal, this is also a great opportunity to scope out a sidrería – a classic Asturian cider house. Along with milk and cheese, cider is perhaps Asturias' most famous product, and a must-try whilst here. Your next base in Espinama is a quieter and more remote spot!

    Day 4

    The Cares Gorge path

    Show Day 4 detail

Following yesterday's exploits around the iconic Naranjo del Bulnes, today you'll tick off one of the most famous hikes in Spain. Carved through the heart of the Picos de Europa is the renowned Cares Gorge (opens in new tab), an easy yet epic hike through a stunning part of the mountain range. Hike along a narrow trail cut into the cliff face, crossing bridges and tunnels as the Cares River flows deep below you with drops of 300m to the valley floor at some points. The trail follows the Cares River from Poncebos, in Asturias province, all the way to Caín, in neighbouring León province. Caín is a blissful spot to grab lunch from one of the many cafes along the river. From here you'll transfer on to your next base in Espinama, a little hamlet nestled beneath the eastern massif of the Picos. You are now in Cantabria province, and this side of the Picos is a lush and green micro climate, with the dense Cantabrian forest providing a refuge for populations of brown bear, wolves, wild boar and chamois. You'll stop in picturesque Potes en route, with cafes, bars and shops to poke your head in before settling in to your quaint, family-run rural accommodation in Espinama. You'll tuck into a home-cooked dinner with local wines this evening.

    Day 5

    Summit Horcados Rojos (2506m)

    Breakfast and dinner included
    Show Day 5 detail

The short drive from Espinama this morning is a spectacular one, as the full vista of the eastern massif reveals itself in dramatic fashion as you round the corner on a winding road to reach Fuente De. Here you'll hop in the cable car that whisks hikers up 750m from the base to the high part of the massif in a matter of minutes. You'll follow a beautiful trail through the lunar landscape, eventually reaching a steep switchback trail that pushes on to the summit of Horcados Rojos (2506m). This is an incredible peak with breathtaking views of the central massif and the surrounding peaks, and even over to the Atlantic Ocean on a clear day. Descend carefully down the switchback trail and pick up the main route back to the cable car, stopping en route at the unique Cabaña Veronica refuge. Take in the incredible views over the lush green expanse of the Cantabrian forest surrounding Fuente De and Espinama before hopping back in the cable car to descend down the valley back to your base. Tuck into dinner and enjoy another restful evening in peaceful Espinama.

    Day 6

Forest trails and waterfalls in the Picos foothills

    Show Day 6 detail

Having gorged on the high peaks and lunar landscapes of the Picos de Europa the last few days, today you can soak up the lower foothills and the lush, green, forested part of Cantabria beneath the eastern massif. A variant of the Camino de Santiago runs through here, and the area is richly biodiverse. Head off on a hike along forest trails past waterfalls, catching glimpses of the high peaks when the dense foliage opens up. You'll hike steadily up to the peaks of La Viorna and Alto de San Martín, with amazing panoramic vistas views of the Ándara Massif. Return to Espinama for dinner and accommodation on your final night in this part of Spain.

Detailed Logistics

Transfers

Your host will arrange a group transfer from Bilbao Airport to Arenas de Cabrales: please arrive at Bilbao Airport by 13:00 on Day 1 in order to join the group transfer. It takes roughly 2.5hrs to reach Arenas de Cabrales from Bilbao. If you are already in Bilbao, your host can arrange a collection from locations in the city. On Day 7, your host will provide a group transfer from Espinama back to Bilbao Airport, dropping you off at approximately 12:00 (midday).

This trip is also accessible from Santander. While there is no scheduled group pick up or drop off from here on the first and last days, your host can arrange this for anyone arriving in or departing from Santander instead of Bilbao. You can request this directly with your host after booking the trip.

Travel options

Bilbao Airport is accessible via various direct flights from the UK and mainland Europe. Flights from outside of Europe are typically indirect. If you're looking to make your own way to Arenas de Cabrales and not utilise the group transfer at Bilbao Airport, you may wish to look into combining flight options into/out of Asturias, Santander and Bilbao airports, all of which are only an hour or two by road from Arenas de Cabrales, with public transport options between them.

Rail travellers can get to the start of this trip via Bilbao's main railway station, Bilbao Abando, which is well connected to various major cities in Spain and France. From Bilbao you can get as far as Arriondas by train, and from there it's a bus ride to Arenas de Cabrales.

Trip level explained

Level 3

Moderate

You'll be hiking an average of 4-5 hours daily (excluding breaks) in a mountain environment, so you’ll need to be in good physical shape and have ideally some previous hiking experience – both for your safety and to enjoy the trip to the fullest. You'll be led by expert, local mountain guides who know the area inside out, so you'll be in safe hands.

Over five days you can expect to cover an average of 13km per day, with elevation gains and losses up to 900m over uneven, rocky terrain with some sustained ascents or descents. The guide will assess the group's fitness, so the routes may be slightly shortened or extended on occasion keeping in mind what's best for your group. If you are not used to multi-day hiking trips then putting in some weekend hikes and physical preparation (cardio and strength training) in advance is advisable.

There are some parts of this trip which may not be suitable for vertigo sufferers. There is nothing too technical or extremely exposed, however on the Cares Gorge path there are sheer drops on the side of a narrow path which may be unnerving if you have a strong fear of heights.

What if i need to skip an activity?

You are welcome to skip any of the hiking days on the trip if you don't feel up to it on any given day. You can relax at the base in Arenas de Cabrales or Espinama and meet up with the group in the evening after the hiking day is completed.

What will I need to carry?

You'll just need to carry a daypack for each hike, with your personal items, waterproofs and extra layers, water and a packed lunch. We suggest anything 25-35 litres in size should be sufficient.

High Altitude Factors To Consider

This trip visits locations at or above 2500m. At this altitude some people may experience symptoms associated with Altitude Sickness (opens in new tab), also known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Previous experience at high altitude is not necessarily an indicator of future performance. Your guide(s) are trained to mitigate the risks associated with altitude by carefully managing the rate of ascent and the intensity of the activity, and to provide the appropriate support response should someone feel ill during the trip. Should you experience health issues during your trip you should inform your guide immediately so the proper care can be provided. Owing to the nature of this trip, it is essential that your personal travel insurance policy provides cover up to the maximum altitude visited on this trip as well as emergency medical evacuation by helicopter.

Climate Factors To Consider

This trip visits locations where daytime temperatures can be extremely high during the times of year when this trip operates. High humidity and limited access to shade can also be factors, and warm temperatures can continue into the nighttime, which additionally influence the body’s ability to cool down. Personal care should be taken to keep as cool as possible in the conditions, such as wearing appropriate clothing and proper hydration. Very high temperatures can impair an individual’s physical abilities to perform an activity that they may otherwise be able to do competently at cooler temperatures. People may experience symptoms associated with dehydration and Heat Stroke (opens in new tab). Your guide(s) are trained to mitigate the risks associated with high temperatures, by carefully managing the intensity of the activity, and to provide the appropriate support response should someone feel ill during the trip. Should you experience health issues during your trip you should inform your guide immediately so the proper care can be provided.

Remote environment: factors to consider

Some parts of this trip take place in areas where access to medical facilities and emergency services may be limited. This may mean that reaching medical care takes longer than you might normally expect, or that local medical facilities have fewer resources than those you may be used to at home.

If someone becomes unwell or injured, initial treatment may be provided locally before onward travel to a larger hospital or city for further care. Evacuation could involve changing the planned route or using different forms of transport to reach appropriate medical facilities. Mobile phone coverage may also be intermittent in some locations.

Your guide is trained to manage situations in remote environments and will monitor the group and respond appropriately if any issues arise. However, it’s important that you let your guide know straight away if you feel unwell or experience any health concerns during the trip.

Before booking, consider your personal health and ability to travel in locations where access to medical care may be delayed. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or concerns, we recommend seeking advice from a medical professional and discussing them with your host before travelling.

All travellers must have suitable travel insurance that covers the activities included in the trip and emergency medical evacuation if required.

Looking for a private room? See Optional Extras for details and pricing.

  • Arenas de Cabrales

    Stay

The River Cares runs through here, famous for its trout and salmon which you'll find on the menu throughout summer. Hotel Villa de Cabrales is a renovated country home with wooden beams, stone walls, antique furniture, a cosy bar and an open fireplace. You'll stay in twin-share rooms with ensuite bathrooms.

    Stay

    Espinama

Your second base of the trip is nestled beneath the peaks of the eastern massif of the Picos, in Espinama. Food and Dietary info

Breakfasts at your hotel bases will be plentiful buffets of breads, meats, eggs and cheeses, cereals, fruits and yoghurt. Lunches are not included in the trip price, allowing you to buy your own lunch each morning before the day's hike from local bakeries and shops in Arenas de Cabrales and Espinama. You should budget around €15 per day for lunches and snacks, and it is best to have this in cash (Euros) in this part of the world. If you like to eat a lot of snacks whilst hiking, then it is recommended to bring your own stash as options in the shops are limited. Evening meals will be local specialities in a combination of restaurants selected by your guide, as well as dinners taken in the hotel. You'll enjoy a variety of options typical to Asturias and Cantabria, with some tapas dishes and pintxos (small traditional snacks popular across northern Spain), a main course usually with fish or meat, dessert and local wines. Asturias and Cantabria are famous for their milk, so there are plenty of cheeses to sample throughout the trip. Another local Asturian speciality is cider; you can attempt the traditional pouring method – raising the bottle above your head and pouring into the glass from a height, so as to carbonate the cider while holding the glass low in your other hand. This is more challenging than the locals make it look!

Vegetarians, vegans and most other dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for with advance notice and planning – please just request this on your passenger info form – however, please be aware that you may find the meal options to be repetitive.

Great trip with fantastic guides and this range of mountains is spectacular. Both hotels were great with good rooms and food.

I highly recommend this trip. The Picos are an underrated beauty and every day of hiking revealed a new and varied landscape. Of course, a trip is only as good as its guides, and Oscar and Jaime were a real pleasure. Very knowledgeable, personable, and full of personality. If you've never tried a group trip before, try this one. You'll make new friends and have a blast.

What an epic week in the stunning Picos de Europa! Our brilliant guides, Oscar and Jaime, worked so hard to make sure everyone was looked after and everything ran smoothly. The hikes were varied and some were pretty challenging due to the rocky terrain, but the views were totally worth it. I couldn't have asked for a better group of fun, supportive and like-minded travel companions who helped make this 5-star tour into a 6-star tour!

This was my first adventure with Much Better Adventures and my first group hiking tour in 15 years. I’d been hesitant about joining a group, especially as a solo traveller, but I’m so glad I did! We couldn’t have asked for a better group or guides. Oscar and Jaime set the tone for a fantastic week, and behind the scenes, they always seemed to have a backup plan for any hiccups we could (but didn’t) encounter. They also went above and beyond by offering to pick me up outside Bilbao, saving me a three-hour bus ride — without me even having to ask! That kind of thoughtfulness and initiative really stood out. It was incredibly reassuring to know we were in such capable hands. I really can’t speak highly enough of the local guides. Both were genuinely passionate about their home, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have lucked out with them — and with the weather! Jesús, the owner of our second hotel, was another highlight. You’ll have to book the tour to meet him! It sounds like MBA is already making some tweaks to the 2027 itinerary based on feedback, including an alternative for hike #5 and a free evening to head out for dinner. With those two changes, I think this trip will be pretty much perfect. Overall, a fantastic week of hiking, great people, and wonderful local experiences. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it! In fact, I already have!

  • Linda L.

Magical hike with an amazing group. Although the foods were not enticing, the nature was soul captivating. The journey was even more memorable with an adorable and entertaining local guide, Jaime and the most thoughtful and care guide, Oscar. Even I was not 100% fit during the hike, I still enjoyed it and was grateful with this opportunity.

  • Maria B.

The trip was carefully organised and generally good quality. The guides were professional, friendly and knowledgeable, and I felt the arrangements were handled well overall. For me, the itinerary was a little uneven. The final day’s hike felt underwhelming and didn’t add much; I think that day could be skipped or replaced with something more worthwhile. Overall, it was a good trip! (A GREAT one if you add wonderful travel companions to the mix!)

What an amazing trip!!!! The Picos are gorgeous. The best group of people. Oscar and Jaime were absolutely wonderful. Thank you for arranging such a memorable trip.

This was my 3rd trip with MBA and the best yet. It was so good I’d consider doing it again!Everyone on the group was lovely and we got on so well we’d all be happy to be on another trip together. The guides Oscar and Hamie were knowledgeable, funny and took great care of us. The Picos are stunning, we were fortunate to have fantastic weather every day. You do need a good level of fitness for the hikes, although there are options if you get tired. the hikes are level 3-4 with significant elevation. The hotels were great, the second had the best food. Bilbao is worth spending a couple of days in either before or after the tip and there are lots of lovely places to visit if you want to extend your trip.

This was my first MBA trip and hopefully not the last. Every moment was very well organized. Communications from our hosts via WhatsApp before we arrived was very clear and concise. From the moment we were picked up at the meeting point to the arrival at our first hotel, any worries about the trip I may have had were gone. It rained heavily on the way back from our first hike where I found out my own gear was not capable of holding up. The following day I was able to regroup, stay at the hotel, and get ready for hike #3. One of the things I really appreciated about the trip was the flexibility and positive attitudes of our guides. We were cared for as a group, but also given the space to make our own choices. Our hotel accommodations exceeded my expectations. The staff was atentive, the rooms were spotless, and the meals were always given with generous portions. Also to note, I am gluten free was was given tons of options for meals and snacks. The moderate rating for the hike I'll say was accurate. If you enjoy the outdoors and hike in your free time you wont have a problem keeping up with the group. Overall, this was a fabulous experience and one I highly recommend.

This was my first trip with Much Better Adventures and I don't think it will be my last. Everything from start to finish ran seamlessly. We had a great group of travelers that I hope to cross paths with again. Our lodging and meals were all Much Better than anticipated. Our guides (Oscar and Jamie) were lovely to get to know. I felt very safe under their guidance and it was clear the whole group appreciated them. I would recommend this trip to anyone who is up for a rugged hiking trip. P. S. I thought this trip should be rated as a 4 based on the elevation gain and mileage.

  • Fantastic first trek with MBA in the Picos!

    Emma T. September 2026
Having used another company for most of the other treks I’ve done, this first time experience with MBA was fantastic! Irene and Alex were amazing guides - friendly, fun and knowledgable and happy to accommodate everyone’s needs. Great logistics and hotels and five very different hikes all with fabulous views. I travelled with my husband and we really enjoyed the company of the others in the group, who were a mix of couples, solos and friends. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend MBA and we will definitely back to explore the Picos!

    Cassandra C. September 2026
The trip was amazing! Txetxo and Ruti were amazing guides, they looked out for everyone in the group and they seemed very passionate and knowledgeable about the Picos de Europa region. I really enjoyed the hikes we did, from challenging to more moderate. The hikes were all spectacular! We were lucky we had exceptional weather on the trip. The beginning was a bit hot but after that the days became cooler. There was a group of 13 of us on the hike, it was a really diverse group but we all got along exceptionally well. I'm vegan, there was a bit of confusion about the meals at the first accommodation (I had to bring my own food) but it was sorted out by day 2. The meals were very good and I appreciated the effort as they don't normally have vegan options. Perhaps more proteins could be included in the meals, other than that the meals were very tasty.
  • Incredible adventure and incredible people

    Dylan M. September 2026
This was a great trip with a very friendly crew. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the hikes and the times in the small villages. Both Alex and Irene were incredible guides and very accommodating to all the small needs we had. They were especially helpful making sure all our meals had gluten free options and giving us some flexibility to adventure on our own a bit. :) I’d definitely recommend this hike to any couples or single people as it was a great time to enjoy some time with those you love and make new friends!

  • Amazing level 3 hike in the Picos de Europa with incredible guides!

    Natalija L. September 2026
I recently completed the "Hike the Picos de Europa: The Hotels Edition" trip from 18–24 September 2026, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! As a level 3 hike, it offered the perfect amount of rewarding challenge. We were blessed with absolutely beautiful weather the entire week, which made the breathtaking mountain scenery look even more spectacular. What truly made the trip special, though, was our incredible guides, Irene Teran and Alejandro. They were incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging, and navigated the technical terrain with absolute confidence. They made sure everyone in the group felt safe and comfortable on every trail. Their expertise and warm personalities kept our spirits high and made the entire journey unforgettable. The logistics from Much Better Adventures were top-notch. Balancing rugged day hikes with the comfort of cozy hotel stays each evening made for a perfect itinerary. I highly recommend this trip—and especially Irene and Alejandro—to anyone looking for a seamless, beautiful mountain adventure!
  • Absolutely fabulous!

    Karen September 2026
Just had a wonderful week hiking in the Picos with our fantastic, professional, friendly and chill guides, Irene and Alex. Enjoyed each day, especially the three days in the alpine. The highlight was summiting Horcados Rojos. The hotels were great, especially the second one which felt like we were in their family home, with amazing hospitality and food. This trip isn’t for beginner hikers, so experience is strongly recommended.
  • Great experience

  • Picos Hiking Paradise- Sept. 2026

    Morgan C. September 2026
OMG. How do I start? First of all, our guides Alex and Irene were simply amazing! I mean fabulous. So knowledgeable, patient, fun, humorous -and their attention to every detail- for EVERYONE- was beyond belief. The hikes were challenging and inspiring. Each day brought new, truly jaw-dropping scenery that left me speechless. Time after the hikes brought different surprises… we got a taste of the culture and way of life in Northern Spain. Irene and Alex were a bottomless source of information! It really was perfectly balanced. The hotels were super cool, clean and rooms spacious. But besides that, the really special part was the staff and the food. Traditional Spanish cuisine every night, ALWAYS with options. I felt like I was at 5 star restaurants in the middle of these gorgeous mountains. I just can’t say enough. I could go on forever. Thank you so so much. Also- every person in my group was great! Two in particular that I connected with I believe will be long time friends. What a success! ❤️
  • Awesome Pico de Europa trip

    Jo E. September 2026
Trip gave varied walking in the Picos and feel I got a great sense of the area. Nice to come back to a shower and tasty food! Felt in safe hands with Alejandro and Jaime, and lucky to have good weather and a fun group.
  • A Picos Paradise!

    James M. September 2026
Had an absolutely fantastic experience on our first Much Better Adventures trip. The hikes provided a good challenge, with a fabulous variety of landscapes, and the scenery was stunning every step of the way. Our guides Oscar and Alex were amazing with a wealth of knowledge about the landscapes and the local culture. They were so helpful, friendly and enthusiastic throughout and even provided some welcome advice for the next stage of our trip in Northern Spain. The group we were with were friendly and down to earth. Lots of craic was had each day! Our experience on this trip has definitely made us keen to revisit this beautiful part of the world!
  • My first holiday with Much

    Becky September 2026
My first holiday with Much Better Adventures and I'm sure it won't be my last! Great group, excellent guides and stunning views of the Picos de Europa. I hadn't done a multi-day hiking trip before but my baseline fitness was sufficient though there were challenging parts. Learnt so much and keen to get out there and do more hiking!
  • A fantastic trip!

    Amy September 2026
This was my first group hiking trip, and it certainly lived up to expectations! The hikes themselves were beautiful, with incredible scenery, varied terrains, and a fantastic view at the top (weather permitting!). I found the hikes more challenging than expected and struggled a little with the heat but there were options for easier routes and anyone could miss a day if they needed to. The two guides, Alex and Jaime, were brilliant. They were very experienced and accommodated everyone’s needs as well as being kind and friendly throughout the whole trip! The accommodation was simple but clean and comfortable. Food was slightly limited as lunches needed to be bought the night before and last overnight out of the fridge, but the guides made sure we always had access to a supermarket, and altered plans if we hadn’t been able to buy lunch prior to the hike. Overall, I enjoyed the trip immensely. The Picos is a stunning location, and I can’t wait to book my next trip!
  • Picos de Oh My God!

    Anastasija R. September 2026
The itinerary was spot on - a mix of classic walks and more remote routes avoiding the crowds. We stayed in peaceful little mountain hideaway villages where you can enjoy the mountains to yourself and think, yep, this is the life. And then came the evenings … Incredible local restaurants, ridiculously good food, a lot of cheese!! and a glass of something nice after earning it on the hills. Big mountains, tiny villages, brilliant food, amazing adventure in Picos.

FAQs

Your host is a true expert on all things to do with the Picos, and knows these mountains better than nearly anybody else in the world. If conditions aren't suitable at any stage, for example if there is heavy snow on the higher elevations on the early trips in the season, there are myriad alternative hikes at mid-elevations that your host will pivot to.

For groups of six or less, there will be one hiking guide. For groups of seven or more, there will be two hiking guides.

This trip has two bases, spending three nights each in Arena de Cabrales and Espinama. Your luggage will be transferred between the two bases and can remain securely in your hotel room throughout the trip.

The water in the Picos is safe to drink and you are able to fill up freely at the hotels that you stay at and at refuges you pass by on some of the hiking routes. Make sure to bring a couple of 1-litre reusable drinking bottles or a bladder.

The weather in the Picos can be very changeable, so be sure to pack for all weathers; though of course, the month you travel in will impact the conditions you encounter.

In May and June, temperatures in the lower elevations will vary between 10-20°C/50-68°F, at mid-altitude (1000-1500m) around 5-15°C/41-59°F and in the high peaks (above 2000m) between 0-10°C/32-50°F, with occasional frost and snow pack still on the higher elevations. These months will experience some rain, especially on the Cantabrian side on the second half of the trip.

In July and August, things heat up in the lower elevations averaging between 20-30°C/68-86°F, sometimes hotter. At mid-altitude averages tend to be between 10-20°C/50-68°F, perfect for hiking. Things are still cool in the high peaks, so expect 5-15°C/41-59°F with layers still needed on those days, such as the Horcados Rojos summit day. Summer weather in the Picos is generally dry and stable, though occasional storms can develop especially in the afternoons.

September and October are still fantastic months to visit north of Spain. Effectively these months offer the reverse of May and June in terms of temperatures and conditions, with some beautiful autumn colours developing in the forested area around Espinama as autumn kicks in properly.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 166kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust (opens in new tab) to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre (opens in new tab) programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here (opens in new tab).
