Up bright and early for your road trip across the country. Passing through the Atlas Mountains, you'll pause at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou for a quick look around and to grab some lunch. The journey then continues all the way to the limestone cliffs of Todra Gorge, a natural oasis with a river running through the middle and a dense 'palmeraie' (date palm forest) on either side.

    Day 3

    Time to scale some cliffs

    Guesthouse
    Twin share
    All meals included
    Show Day 3 detail

You'll have a briefing this morning with your climbing guide and get set up with your kit before heading on foot to the entrance of the gorge. The 400m near-vertical red rock cliffs are a climber's mecca, with plenty of routes available for total novices to progress along. You'll spend the day getting to grips with the equipment and your technique before heading back to the guesthouse late afternoon. After a bit of time to chill, there'll be a pre-dinner yoga class to limber up and stretch out. Dinner will be a social affair and hearty affair.

    All meals included
    Show Day 4 detail

Building on the skills you learned yesterday, you'll hit some new routes as you start to get a feel for the rocks and the surroundings. You'll be climbing in an area with some shade so there's plenty of downtime if needed - and of course, a picnic lunch when you're ready or a quick walk to the local village to grab anything else you fancy. Heading back to the guesthouse late afternoon you'll again have another yoga class on the roof as the sun sets. This is the perfect way to relax before dinner and the roof is also a relaxing place to hang out a star-gaze at the end of the day.

Switch your climbing shoes for hiking boots today as you set off on a 13km loop of the gorge. Passing goat-herders, wandering donkeys and nomadic locals along the way, you'll follow the path to a plateau with 360° views across the Atlas Mountains. Back at the guesthouse, it's time to head to Merzouga. You'll travel part by private bus or car and part by 4x4 desert truck to get to your luxury camp in the dunes. There'll be time for a bit of sandboarding before a relaxing sunset yoga session. Dinner is served in one of the open tents, the vastness and silence of the desert providing a dramatic backdrop.

    Day 6

    Sunrise yoga and via ferrata

    Guesthouse
    Twin share
    All meals included
    Show Day 6 detail

Get up pre-dawn to capture the magical sunrise over the Sahara. You'll have a gentle yoga class in the early morning rays to energise for the day, before heading back to Todra Gorge. Time to experience Morocco's only via ferrata and be rewarded with epic views of over the gorge. You'll follow an iron-railed route and be clipped in with a harness – although it might feel scary, you're very safe. There is the option to challenge yourself further by taking on a short but exposed wire bridge, the ultimate adrenaline fix. Head back to the guesthouse for a final yoga session (optional!) and a traditional Moroccan feast.

  2. Day 7

    Back to the city

    Breakfast included
    Show Day 7 detail

Back to Marrakech today, stopping en route for lunch. It's a long drive, so there'll be plenty of time to soak up the High Atlas views from the bus and reflect on your adventure before getting back into Marrakech for goodbyes and flights home.

Trip level explained

Level 3

Moderate

As this is an introductory trip, you do not need any previous experience rock climbing or practicing yoga. Both activities can be tailored to your experience so while absolute beginners are very welcome, so are those who have experience in both. Todra Gorge offers a multitude of quality single and multi-pitch sports climbs for all grades so there really is something for everyone. You should have a reasonable level of fitness for the hiking day but this can be taken at your own pace and if you'd rather sit it out, this is totally fine too.

What if i need to skip an activity?

All activities are also totally optional - so if you decide that yoga isn't for you or you would like to only climb for a little bit each day, this is of course absolutely fine, you are on holiday after all!

Climate Factors To Consider

This trip visits locations where daytime temperatures can be extremely high during the times of year when this trip operates. High humidity and limited access to shade can also be factors, and warm temperatures can continue into the nighttime, which additionally influence the body’s ability to cool down. Personal care should be taken to keep as cool as possible in the conditions, such as wearing appropriate clothing and proper hydration. Very high temperatures can impair an individual’s physical abilities to perform an activity that they may otherwise be able to do competently at cooler temperatures. People may experience symptoms associated with dehydration and Heat Stroke (opens in new tab). Your guide(s) are trained to mitigate the risks associated with high temperatures, by carefully managing the intensity of the activity, and to provide the appropriate support response should someone feel ill during the trip. Should you experience health issues during your trip you should inform your guide immediately so the proper care can be provided.

I had the most amazing time in Morocco, visiting wonderful places and meeting new friends. Rock climbing was ace, and the Sahara element was a dream come true!!! I would 100% recommend this trip to anyone, it was my first trip away by myself and a group adventure, and I'm so glad I went! I stayed in a riad I booked myself in the Medina for a night before meeting the group, and I'd recommend this so you can spend time exploring Marrakech before getting onto the group activities. Can't wait for my next trip with MBA, I'm sure it won't be long before I book another :-)

  • George O.

This is a fantastic trip for anyone who's a complete beginner in rock climbing like myself (although other experianced climbers in the group also had a great time). The rock climbing and yoga activities complement each other really well with a great part of that down to Natalie and Dan doing such an excellent job in running the trip. This is the perfect trip for anyone looking to try something a bit different to the "usual holiday". Definitely value for money as well, the schedule is jam packed with all sorts of activities and yet it never once felt overwhelming. This is my first trip with Much Better Adventures and definitely won't be my last (although the bar has now been set very high!).

My wife and I recently came back from a week in Morocco organised by Dan and Natalie at Rock n Yogi Adventures. It was the most fantastic week, with both Dan and Natalie putting ourselves and the group we were with at ease immediately. They created a fantastic atmosphere within the group and were great an adapting to the various skill levels of all involved in both the climbing and yoga throughout the week. We can’t recommend them enough, they are both wonderful, friendly people and great instructors. You won’t be disappointed if you go on a trip organised by these guys. And the setting in the Todra Gorge was truly amazing.

This is a great trip, with one big caveat. The trip to Todra Gorge, which is around 6 hours, sucks. Easily the worst part of the trip especially when I went in September, as the taxis did not have air conditioning. Once that first drive to the Gorge is done the trip really gets going. Dan and Natalie, the hosts, are probably the best hosts I have had on the 7+ trips I have been on. Dan is a great climbing guide, great either for complete beginners or people like me with some climbing experience. Natalie's yoga sessions were also really fun and a great intro if you have never done yoga before. The trip was well organised with easy pick up from the airport. Accommodation is about what I would expect from MBA trips, which accommodation that is fine but nothing special. I would recommend staying an extra day or so to explore Marrakesh, it is a great city to explore if a bit crazy. Altogether this is a great trip, with only the drive to Todra Gorge itself being the problem. Go on this trip with this in mind though and you will have a great time.

Not only probably the best one of these trips I've done so far! Also one of my most memorable weeks yet! Very well organised and loads of fun!

What a fantastic trip! As a newbie to rock climbing & having never climbed outside of an indoor wall, this was the best introduction I could have imagined. Dan was so supportive, calm & made pretty much all of it feel possible. The backdrop of the Atlas Mountains was such a beautiful setting & the yoga with Natalie had been planned perfectly around the climbs. The optional sound bath towards the end of the week was a particular highlight. Spending a night out in the Sahara desert was very special. So much to do on this trip, it was so much fun with a brilliant group of people, I feel very grateful for the experience & memories. Would highly recommend to anyone reading the trip itinerary & thinking of joining!

MBA Morocco – 19th–26th September Including an extra night in Marrakech From the very beginning, the communication with MBA was excellent and booking the trip was really easy. MBA act as the conduit to the hosts in Morocco, Dan and Natalie from @rocknyogiadventures, and what a fantastic job they all did. The communication from Natalie throughout the trip was amazing. We had 11 participants, with people arriving early, others arriving late on the Saturday, and everyone flying in from different airports and at different times. Despite all of this, the airport pick-ups and transfers to the Riads were completely seamless. Food preferences were also handled brilliantly. We had vegetarians and gluten-free requirements in the group, and everything was communicated in advance to the Riads and Auberge, so there was never any worry about being catered for. The drive to the gorge is a long one — around 8 hours, including stops and a short hike. This is clearly explained in the itinerary, so it’s worth managing your expectations. Having said that, it was actually a great opportunity to get to know the rest of the group and start building friendships. We arrived at the gorge after dark, but waking up the next morning surrounded by those incredible mountains was absolutely amazing. 🧗 The climbing The climbing was a real challenge for me, especially as I’d never climbed before. But Dan was an amazing instructor — patient, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and incredibly encouraging. He helped me get to the top when I wasn’t sure I could! Mohammed and Justin were equally helpful, and throughout the climbing I always felt that we were in safe and capable hands. 🧘 The yoga The yoga was equally enjoyable. I’m not really a yoga person (although perhaps I should be at my age! 😂), but Natalie was brilliant at understanding everyone’s different abilities and offered alternative poses when needed. There’s something particularly special about doing yoga out in the desert. It’s incredibly peaceful and calming, and definitely an experience I’ll remember. 🏡 Accommodation & food The Riads and Auberge were good places to stay. Just don’t go expecting 5-star luxury — this is an adventure trip, after all! The food was mainly traditional Moroccan fare: tagines, lentils and bread, with pasta salad for lunch. Breakfast included bread, spreads, eggs and yoghurt. Everything was simple but plentiful, and the staff at all the accommodation were incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us. And then there was the desert… It absolutely blew my mind. The accommodation was fantastic — glamping at its very best! Waking up in that incredible landscape was something I’ll never forget. ❤️ The people The whole trip was amazing, but what made it really special were Dan and Natalie and, of course, the rest of the group. Our ages ranged from 18 to 70, yet somehow we all bonded so well. New friendships were made, plenty of laughs were shared, and it really felt like we’d been on the adventure together rather than simply being a group of strangers on a trip. A huge thank you to everyone involved for such a memorable experience. I came home with some fantastic memories, new friends and a real desire to get back on the rock! I’m already looking forward to my next climbing session. In the meantime, I’ll be practising my figure of eight! 🧗‍♂️😂 Thank you, MBA, Dan, Natalie, Mohammed, Justin and everyone else who made the trip so special. 🇲🇦❤️

This trip has to be the best holiday I had so far. Doing fun things with a group of active and friendly people. We climbed, we laughed, we showed off the bruises on our legs, we became friends and maybe someday, we'll meet again in another adventure. Natalie and Dan are great instructors too. Thanks for being so patient and encouraging with us.

  • Brian

What an amazing adventure! Dan is a brilliant instructor who will bring you to your limits with climbing, whether you're a newbie or experienced. Natalie is a true Yogi who will make this adventure a magical experience. The trip was non stop adventure and laughs. Everything on the itinerary and more. Can't forget to mention how great Justin and Faizal were with making sure everyone was looked after. Most of all, the other members of my group were the best group of people I've had the pleasure to meet. People from all walks of life with that one common trait - seeking adventure.

  • Catharine B.

This is an unforgettable trip which I could not recommend highly enough. The itinerary is so well put together by Dan and Natalie that you come away from six days feeling like you’ve been away a month. You can really feel how loved and respected your hosts are in the village they’ve made their home, which means as their guests the local community welcome you warmly. If you want frills this isn’t the trip for you, but if you’re happy to immerse yourself in this beautiful and unforgettable place you won’t want to go home.

Writing a review is tricky when an experience has been so good its left you speechless. Dan and Natalie are incredible hosts, they have built an itinerary and fostered an atmosphere that makes sure the time spent in Morocco is completely unforgettable. Everything about the setup is created to give you exactly what you need from the trip with the flexibility to make sure the experience is whatever you want it to be!

  • A wonderful, varied, authentic experience

    Sarah T. May 2026
I loved my week in Morocco, and have come back rested, refreshed and inspired by all the new experiences. There is a lot of driving, and the auberge is by no means luxurious, but the breadth of activities and environments more than make up for that, and the warmth and support of Natalie, Dan and all the staff make it very difficult to have anything but a wonderful time. I made huge strides in my confidence and capability in climbing under Dan's expert tuition (he's a natural teacher and brilliant at managing a mixed group so everyone gets as much stretch as they want) and I enjoyed a first, unthreatening attempt at yoga with the chilled and caring Natalie. This was my first group trip and my first MBA trip, and I'm so glad it was this one: the group were brilliant, there was a perfect balance of activities and down time, and the Todra Gorge blew my mind. The birdlife and lush greenery of the valley basin, compared with the striking red cliffs and aid hillsides above, create something that feels like a fairy tale. For someone into being outdoors and observing nature, it is a little slice of heaven. From a more practical perspective, it's also amazingly good value.
  • Book it

    Helen April 2026
Prior to this trip, I had never booked onto anything like this before and I fear now that nothing will come close to how incredible it was! I had a good feeling about this trip but it was even better than I could have imagined. Dan and Natalie are wonderful hosts and I found the communication to be great. Natalie regularly checks in with the group to ensure everyone knows what they are doing. It’s non stop which ensures you experience so many amazing things within the time that you are there. I had experience with climbing indoors before but this was my first time climbing outdoors and now I’m itching to get back to climb with the team again! The group were a mixture of complete first timers to people with some with prior climbing experience, all levels were catered for! The night in the desert is something special too and something that will stay with me forever! Make sure to check out the stars ✨ Honestly, do yourself a favour and just book it, incredible experience with an incredible team behind it!
  • An amazing adventure in Morocco

    Stuart L. April 2026
Where do I start?! This is one of the best holidays i have ever been on. Absolutely jam packed week. Natalie and Dan run such an amazing trip with such passion it really shines through and they are truly a credit to the good wonderful people out there in the world! I honestly could not recommend this trip highly enough I promise you wont be disappointed. A night under the stars in the desert with amazing people is definitely one of the many highlights! Also meeting some incredible inspirational people that I wont forget. Also meeting the man the legend Faisal was an absolute pleasure he can not do enough for you! All I can say is get this trip booked ASAP!!
  • A fun trip but A LOT of driving

    Jessica J. April 2026
This trip was a fantastic way to see a bit of everything Morocco has to offer without the hassle of organizing it yourself; city, gorge, dessert. I felt some of the activities were mis-represented in the itinerary description and detailed information provided by the hosts, they were "played up" more than what was actually offered. That being said, it was still a great trip, made amazing mostly by the group of people I met.
  • At 59 and with a

    Denise W. April 2026
At 59 and with a fear of heights I was worried about booking this holiday, but with reassurance that I would be fine as long as I had a sense of adventure I booked it and did not regret a second! The itinerary was packed, a trip to the Sahara in 4x4’s and yoga at sunrise, a hike in the mountains visiting a Berber camp and climbing stunning cliff faces with welcome yoga afterwards. The staff at the Riads could not have been more hospitable and the beds were comfy despite being a little cold but I think we were unlucky with the weather. The group of people I joined were amazing, like minded and such fun. The trust we shared as strangers was incredible especially as beginners belaying each other, but that was made easy by the excellent instructions from Dan. I cannot believe how much we achieved as beginners climbing and felt so exhilarated to the point that I want to climb again. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip to anyone.
  • Not quite intro, but a challenge that brought us together

    Belinda K. April 2026
What I expected to be a light "intro" rock climbing trip turned out to be far more challenging. With no prior climbing experience, i even cancelled at one point but rebooked due to non refundable flights, thinking i could sit it out if needed. In hindsight, rebooking was the best decision i could have made. Despite initial discomforts, the warmth of the team at the guesthouse and the strength of the group made it feel like we were part of a small family. Going from never climbing before to completing a VIA FERRATA & tackling 30m climbs was both daunting and exhilarating. What made the difference was the team spirit, constantly encouragaing one another, having each other's backs and pushing through moments we might not have managed alone. We hadn't expected to be belaying, but being quickly trained and trusted with someone elses safety was both terrifying and empowering and left us with a valuable new skill. With such as action packed schedule, there wasn't much time to wander but it would have been amazing to explore the gorge and soak in its beauty at our own pace. Each day brought something new, from hikes and (much needed) yoga, to the sahara desert. It was intense and eye-opening but we came away stronger and I have absolutely no regrets. Thank you Dan, Natalie, Genie, Faisal & the wider team/family.
  • Authentic, atmospheric and fun

    Andrew M. March 2026
Reviewing a year late! Wonderfully authentic set-up with a strong connection with the locals. The rock climbing was such a blast after only having climbed plastic; it was so grippy and easy to climb the real thing! Natalie, Dan and Owain were great, attentive instructors and incredibly warm and welcoming. Faisal and Mohammed were gregarious and delightful hosts and chefs. I was lucky to be here during Ramadan too. Accommodation is quite basic, but I didn't really care as I was so tired and happy. The berber camp in the sahara was a blast. Hope to be back as part of a cross country cycling trip - still thinking of Morocco a year later.
  • Climbing, sand duning, and yoga, oh my!

    Sophia B. March 2026
Rock climbing in Morocco? How can one resist?! Todra Gorge is a truly beautiful setting in which to scale some cliffs, while feeling completely safe and supported by Dan and his staff, not to mention the camaraderie and encouragement provided by the rest of the participants. From novices to those of us with more rock climbing experience under our belts, this was a fun new environment to rock climb in, and Dan and David set up routes on each of the 2 days of climbing that catered to a variety of levels and experiences. Moreover, though his company Rock n Yogi, I was able to add on an extra day of rock climbing with Dan, where I was able to do some lead climbs and a 4-pitch multi-pitch climb! That was the icing on the cake of this trip for me. The trip to the Sahara desert was an unexpected thrill - the kid came out in all of us as we cavorted on the dunes and even tried out sand-boarding! Sunrise yoga on the dunes was amazing as we were witness to a brilliant display of orange colors playing on the undulating dunes as the sun rose in the east, with an almost full moon hovering in the sky to the west. Dan and Natalie were welcoming and gracious hosts in Tizgui, and are obviously well integrated into the Todra Gorge community. Faisal is an amazing cook, and does a wonderful job of accommodating everyone's dietary restrictions - and he has a warm welcoming smile, especially if you ask him for some of his amazing Moroccan mint tea! :)
  • A holiday of firsts and one I’ll never forget!

    Charmaine M. March 2026
A holiday of firsts — and one I’ll never forget. My first solo trip, my first climbing holiday, and I arrived with exactly zero climbing experience. Meeting members of the group, before the scheduled dinner on Saturday evening was great as was getting to know them after dinner when we explored parts of Marrakesh. Lunch and the scenic stop at Ait Ben Haddou broke up the long drive to Todra Gorge perfectly. To be honest, I was nervous before every climb and had no idea what a Via Ferrata even was… until I was clipped onto it. But Dan, our instructor, was exceptional — clear, calm, experienced and full of encouragement. By the end of day one, I’d completed 2 out of 3 climbs. Day two, another 2 out of 3 — including a 40‑metre climb I never imagined I could do. The support from Dan and my fellow climbers pushed me to heights I didn’t think were possible. The mix of enthusiasm and fear before each climb and sense of achievement at the end of the day was unlike anything I’ve ever felt. The yoga sessions afterwards, with Natalie, were the perfect reset — grounding, calming, and exactly what my body and mind needed. Then came the Sahara. I didn’t know what to expect, but it was unforgettable: beautiful accommodation, a 4x4 ride over the dunes and sunrise yoga. And just when I thought the adventure had peaked, the final day arrived: Via Ferrata. An adrenaline rush from start to finish. Scaling the gorge and crossing a wire bridge as a complete novice was intense, exhilarating, and surprisingly one of my favourite moments of the entire trip. Would I recommend this trip? Wholeheartedly. I came home feeling brave, strong, bold, and completely refreshed.
  • What an amazing experience. Dan

    Sheila A. March 2026
What an amazing experience. Dan and Natalie were the perfect hosts and instructors. We were so lucky to have a fabulous group of people too. A wonderful experience and have highly recommended this trip to others.
  • SPECTAULAR adventure!

    Caroline T. March 2026
The entire weak was truly unforgettable. Yes, the Todra gorge is breathtaking and the Sahara desert views otherworldly; But our hosts were the highlight, Dan and Natalie are warm and easy going and made us feel at ease right away. They introduced us to the locals and we were welcomed into the Todra Gorge family. The Host at the Inn taught us about the Gorge customs, the local people were warm and friendly and we were served tea at a nomad village. The food was always delicious, traditional and abundant. Dan is an incredible Rock climbing guide. Patient, safety oriented and encouraging. The climbs were set up for all levels so everyone was challenged and successful. The climbing in the Gorge is an incredible experience like no other. Natalie is a pro at making sure everyone is fed, transported and is constantly making sure the trip is running smoothly. However, her true gift is as a Yogi. Having Yoga on a terrace overlooking the Gorge, or in the desert for the sun rise is not only calming, but we also stretched and prepared for the intensive days of climbing and hiking. I highly recommend this adventure for people that enjoy nature, getting a taste of the local customs and want to meet really cool and adventurous people.
  • What a Blast

    Robert K. March 2026
Danny and Natalie treated us like family. Learned loads and had an awesome time. Only thing would be that I would have preferred not having the desert trip as the time in the car really mounts up on this one. Cheers guys.
  • Incredible Experience!

    Aled C. November 2025
I booked this trip to increase my rock climbing experience & to explore parts of Morocco that I wouldn't be able to manage alone. Every aspect of this trip more than matched my expectations. The fact that this like-minded group naturally bonded during activities was a bonus. The scenery throughout the trip was stunning. I was impressed with the rock climbing instructors, staff at Rock & Yogi were thorough & I felt totally safe and was encouraged to push myself to the limit. The opportunity to 'Sand Board' in the desert was the icing on the cake for me, the whole Sahara experience was memorable. My only slight criticism is the lack of breakfast available some mornings. More calories were needed for the level of activity we undertook. One morning, Oats were provided with insufficient milk/water to make them edible. However, all in all, I had an incredible experience that I'll never forget.
  • Lovely adventure in Morocco

    Gemma L. November 2025
I had a really lovely holiday in Morocco. Morocco is a really lovely country and the people are very nice. The two days of climbing were really good, Dan's instructions were great and I feel that I gained confidence. David was a really nice guide for the walk and the Via Farrata and he gave good tips for the climbing- as did Alba. Natalies yoga was really lovely and well thought out and the sunrise yoga in the desert was really magical. I would recommend this trip to everyone. Really fun adventure!
  • Great into to rock climbing & Morocco

    Leigh M. November 2025
Very enjoyable week and having never climbed before thought the instruction and location were fabulous. Good mix between climbing, yoga and desert visit although I wish we had 2 nights at the Sahara camp to have a chance to do more activities there.

    Konrad H. October 2025
I just got back from Morocco a few days ago, so I’d better write this review while everything’s still fresh in my mind. OK, let’s go! Climbing – Fantastic! I’ve done some scrambling and mountaineering before, but I’d never been on the wall until now. Don’t worry—you’ll be in safe hands. And if you already know a bit, no problem! They’ll let you try some more advanced stuff, so you definitely won’t get bored. Yoga – Amazing. Natalie is such a gentle soul; she’ll guide you exactly where you need to be in that moment in time and space. Not sure what that means yet? You will, I promise. Desert – Absolutely mind-blowing. You’ll experience the Milky Way like never before—truly 3D, breathtaking views of the night sky. Food – I’m afraid I’m not much of a foodie, so I can’t write paragraphs about it. I liked it a lot, but then again, I tend to like everything. I’m vegan, and I was well taken care of with delicious, cruelty-free meals. OK, this is getting long—and no one reads long reviews, right? So here’s the short version: my Moroccan adventure was a solid 10 out of 10! If you’re thinking about booking, stop thinking and just do it. You’ll thank me when you get back. • A Great Experience

    Daniel L. October 2025
A fantastic adventure with some great people, good food and lots of varied activities so it doesn't get repetitive, I would recommend practicing your climbing before this trip as easy climbs can be limited for very fresh beginners. My one negative for the trip would be the rooms at the guest house are very minimalistic but as you're pretty much only using them to sleep its not a big deal

FAQs

Drinkable water is collected from the gorge while you are out and about - and water bottles can be filled up at each accommodation so some reusable bottles will be well used.

As you will be travelling by private bus to Todra Gorge and back, you can just take your bag with you all the way.

You will need to bring your own climbing shoes. If you don't have already, these can be bought for approx. £30 from Decathlon or similar. You should buy those that fit comfortably in the shop - don't follow advice for them to be extra tight or a smaller shoe size than you would normally wear - your feet will swell with the heat in Morocco anyway so finding a pair that fit like normal shoes and no tighter is important.

Ramadan is expected to take place from 17th February to 19th March 2026. The national holiday of Eid ul-Fitr will follow for 2-3 days. Ramadan is an Islamic festival where the religious do not eat or drink during daylight hours. While this is a really interesting time to travel, especially to witness celebrations where the fast is broken in the evenings, you can expect some business hours will be shortened, alcohol is not permitted during daylight hours and some restaurants will be closed during this festival period. Activities for local people tend to be limited during the day and the nights are very active in cities with lots of different foods being sold and consumed. Ramadan will not affect the inclusions on your trip, although you should be aware that dinners will be served after locals break their fast in the evenings.

This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme highs, where limited shade and high humidity can also be a factor. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but hydration, proper clothing, and sun protection are essential.

Before travelling, consider your ability to be active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have concerns – especially if you have any cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two prior to the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.

Todra Gorge is known for long dry months usually from February to November. In February to March, daytime temperatures sit around 15-20°C and drop to below 10°C at night. April and May will be a bit warmer, usually around 25°C in the day but again, cooler at night. The months of June-August are too hot to run the trip so it resumes again in September when daytime temperatures can still hit 30°C. It starts to cool a little in October and November, then becomes too cold for climbing in December and January. Moroccan heat is dry as so much of the landscape is desert - rainfall is rare in the months the trips runs but isn't unheard of. If you do experience rain it is likely to be short and sharp and often a welcome relief to the heat.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 424kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust (opens in new tab) to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre (opens in new tab) programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here (opens in new tab).
